Outings and outdoor play are an important part of our Early Years provision at Lambrook. We believe that all our children should be given opportunities to explore new places, experience the wider world beyond the classroom and to develop a love of learning in both novel and stimulating settings.

For our last outing of the academic year, Reception visited the Chiltern Open Air Museum for a ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ themed day. The story, which we have been learning at school, was brought to life as the children explored the thatched cottage belonging to the bears, cooking (and eating) porridge on the stove, making clay bear models as well as building dens in the woods for Daddy, Mummy and Baby Bear.

After enjoying a picnic lunch in one of the beautiful barns, the children played in the gorgeous grounds of the museum before jumping on to the coach back to Lambrook … just in time to avoid the downpour of rain!

The Reception teachers were very proud of all the children’s high levels of engagement and brilliant behaviour. We cannot wait to read the children’s own Goldilocks stories, which will be planned and written in the coming days.
