Before Easter, Robert and Ophelia represented Lambrook at the annual Fighting Fit Fencing Competition. Fighting Fit Fencing is a top British fencing club and has trained many British champions. The standard was high, with internationally qualified referees, originally from the club, judging each fight. There were 70 fencers overall and both Robert and Ophelia put up a strong performance in the initial rounds. Both pupils managed to secure a place in the last 16 and continued to battle for places. Finally, Ophelia met her match and lost to one of the top girls in her age range and finished a very creditable 13th. Robert continued, with Ophelia remaining at the competition to cheer him on. He managed to get through the quarters, semis and reached the final. After some tough fencing Robert was crowned champion. Well done to both fencers. We look forward to following their success in the IAPS competition in the summer term.
