St Pirans Gala
On Tuesday 4th June, we took a Year 2,3 and 4 Swim Team to St Piran’s School. This was the first ever gala for our Year 2 swimmers so there were a few nervous children. The children managed to settle their nerves and really show what talented swimmers they are. The races were as close as ever, however thanks to a strong performance from our Year 2 children, we managed to win the gala by the narrowest of margins.

Lambrook had a very successful qualifying event back in February with 8 children qualifying for the finals at the Olympic Pool in London. Getting to this point involved qualifying in the top 20 times in their chosen event across the whole of the UK, so just making it this far was a remarkable achievement.
The girls competed in the morning, with Poppy and Bella swimming personal bests but sadly missing out the finals. Jessica swam a very composed heat making it through to the finals of the 50m freestyle, and then finishing 5th overall.
The Boys event started with the U11 boys, who qualified in both the Medley and freestyle relays. They put in a gutsy performance improving on their qualifying times and clearly gaining a lot from the experience of competing at the highest level.
The final swimmer representing Lambrook was Leo. He had qualified 2nd fastest for the finals, so a medal was a realistic goal. He swam a faultless final finishing strongly coming a very respectable 3rd place.
The standard of swimming at this event was of the very highest standard with numerous records been broken throughout the day. The children should be very proud of their achievements and use this as a stepping stone for next year’s competition.
