It has been another exciting week at Lambrook, as we received the Government go-ahead to allow all of our pupils to return to school. Our dedicated staff team have been busy getting everything ready, and we cannot wait to have even more of our school community back together once again. I am sure that, as parents, you are extremely relieved at the prospect of your child being able to have some of school before the summer holidays. Thank you again for all that you have done in support of your children, and indeed the school, during the twists and turns of the past few months. For those families remaining at home, I look forward to being able to catch up in person in September.
It was also an exciting week for our Year 8 pupils, as they received their Common Entrance results either in person (socially distanced of course!) or via Zoom. I am so very proud of each and every one of them for the way in which they have applied themselves over this term, and indeed years, at Lambrook; they really did use these exams to showcase their amazing academic ability and have proven that they are truly ready for all that senior school has to bring from September. We look forward to following their progress as they move on to the next stage of their educational journey, but before then, we are grateful that we can now celebrate with our Year 8 Leavers in person over the next two weeks.
Tomorrow would have been our annual Sports Day, which is always one of the highlights of the year. We will miss the wonderful competition and camaraderie shared between the houses, the passionate support of parents cheering their loved ones on from the side, and the finest spread of picnics in the whole of Berkshire. I know that all families are remaining very fit at home and what an achievement to be nearly completing 1,860 miles per house; from the Reception child in Goodhart entering a quarter of a mile most days since Easter, to our super cyclists in Year 7, each one has contributed an extraordinary amount to their House. The top position is looking pretty close and I am sure the total will be reached in the next week!
I wish you a very happy and restful weekend.
