I am very much looking forward to celebrating our past year at Lambrook at our annual Speech Day tomorrow.
We are honoured to welcome Lydia Greenway as our special guest to speak to us and to present prizes to our pupils. Until her recent retirement, Lydia spent 13 years playing cricket for England, making over 200 appearances for her country and putting women’s cricket on the map. With the Cricket World Cup, Ashes competitions and, of course, our Lambrook fixtures taking place this summer, cricket is currently a prominent sport, and we look forward to hearing more about Lydia’s experiences at the crease.
It hardly seems possible that we are at the end of another academic year. It has been a joy to see our pupils thrive in so many areas; there have been some outstanding academic achievements, a number of unbeaten sports teams, several county and national champions, some extraordinary performances on the stage, thousands of pounds raised for charities, visits to some exciting places on trips, and so much more! Such achievements reflect the remarkable talent and enthusiasm of every one of our pupils here, and the dedication and commitment of the staff in support of them.
It was very special to mark the end of Year 8’s time at the school at our Leavers’ Service and Dinner on Thursday. We will be very sorry to say farewell to them, and wish them, and our Year 6 Leavers, well as they move on to their new senior schools, and take hold of all the opportunities that these adventures will bring.
Thank you to you as parents for your tremendous support of Lambrook over the past year. It has been a fantastic year for the school and I know that we will continue to build on this success next year.
I do hope that the summer holiday break proves to be happy and refreshing for your family.
