It was an enormous pleasure to be able to welcome back parenting expert, Alicia Drummond to Lambrook this week to speak to both our children and our parents. Alicia spent the afternoon working with our upper school pupils, helping them to understand some of their own emotions and giving them some key tools to help them manage stress, anxiety and worry. In the same way, I know that parents found the evening event most helpful in understanding how they can support their children during these all important years. In an ever-changing world, we need to be equipping our children for the challenges that they will navigate, both now and in the future and at Lambrook, pastoral care remains a priority, as we teach our children to look after themselves, and also others, and we are so very grateful to you as parents for your support and partnership in this area.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend the parent workshop, as I had the pleasure of watching a performance of Sweeney Todd at Wellington College where six of the cast and a number more in the orchestra, were old Lambrookians.  Musical Thrillers are not always to everyone’s taste however the performance was simply outstanding, West End standard in fact, and an inspiring example of what our pupils often go on to achieve. Prep School often provides the introduction to a love of music and drama, which is then taken even further and built upon on at senior school and beyond. We have our Performing Arts Festival to look forward to in the coming weeks; certainly a highlight of the year and an opportunity for both individuals and groups to celebrate their extraordinary talents. These and other interests are, of course, so good for our mental health and wellbeing too!

As we reach the half term holiday, whether you happen to be on the slopes of Europe, the Cornish coast, at Windsor Great Park or visiting museums in London, I do hope that it will be a refreshing week for all. And, of course, there are many more exciting things to look forward to as we head towards Easter, with inspiring new topics to learn in lessons, sports fixtures and tournaments, the IAPS ski Championships in Italy, trips to museums, productions and the Music Festival too!

I look forward to catching up after the break.
