Scorching temperatures and long sunny days can only mean one thing in a school…exam time! I am sure that you will remember from your school days ‘exam weather’, when the climate always seemed to be positively tropical when you had to sit in an exam hall. Today, our Year 8 pupils put down their pens and breathed a sigh of relief, after having completed their Common Entrance examinations. This final stage in their Prep School educational journey is no mean feat and pupils should feel enormously proud of the way in which they completed such an important milestone – showcasing the culmination of all of their hard work, knowledge and outstanding talent. I am in awe of all that they have achieved, not just this week, but throughout their time at Lambrook, most of which cannot be measured or constrained by an examination. I look forward to sharing their results with them in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, Year 8 has an exciting programme of events, including a performance of Shrek, talks and training from an impressive line of visitors, team building activities, experiences and adventures and a special trip to Devon.
The Prep School years are so very special and will provide memories that will last a lifetime. We know that our children at Lambrook are so very fortunate to be able to spend these formative years in such a wonderful environment; being challenged and inspired by their teachers, representing the school in sports fixtures, performing in a show the DJC, boarding with their closest friends and being outside on balmy summer evenings, diving into the swimming pool, singing in the choir in Chapel, firing a piece of art in the kiln, going on expeditions and listening to inspirational speakers.
Thanks to the generosity of our Lambrook community, we have been able to offer so much for our pupils and we are keen that this experience is shared with those around us; through our charity fundraising, our partnership work and events with our local state schools and, more recently, through The Lambrook Foundation, we are committed to providing the Lambrook experience to those children who would truly benefit from all Lambrook has to offer. We look forward to sharing more of this vision with you over the coming months.
I do hope that you enjoy the Exeat and very much hope that the following weeks will be wonderful times to celebrate together as a Lambrook community.
