Thanks to the generosity of our Lambrook community over the past eighteen months, we have raised over £30K for our chosen charity, Thames Valley Adventure Playground.
This money has been transformational for TVAP and it has been a great privilege to support them.
As one partnership comes to an end, we are delighted to be able to announce that the next charity that we will be supporting over the coming months is ‘First Days’. First Days is a charity that believes that every child deserves the same start in life and strives to help families in Berkshire who are struggling to provide their children with basic food and clothing. First Days, not only offers financial help where needed, but also takes donated clothes, equipment and toys and redistributes these items to those living in poverty.
Four million children in the UK are living in households whose income falls below the poverty line, leaving them with just £19 a day to live on after housing and utility costs. This has to cover food, clothes, transport, birthdays and everything else they might need. Many of the families that First Days work with are in employment, but find that their wages simply can’t stretch to increased living costs as well as the needs of growing children.
As a school, Lambrook will be able to help First Days enormously by raising money, but also by collecting physical donations of old baby and children’s equipment that they no longer need. It will be a great opportunity for our pupils to be outward looking and to give generously to those who are not as fortunate as them. We look forward to sharing more with you in due course.
