It was an absolute joy to open the doors to Pre Prep on Wednesday morning and welcome the children back to school. Smiling faces, cheerful voices and laughter have filled the corridors – as though the children have never been away!
It has been a pleasure to welcome many new families to the School. The Reception reps kindly organised a BBQ on Sunday for all the children and their families. Whilst the children played, the parents had an opportunity to meet the teachers and chat with one another. Thank you to all those involved; it was a really lovely occasion and a super way to start the term. For those of you who are new to Lambrook, I hope that you will feel very much part of the school community soon.
Concentration, engagement and lots of learning have been evident in all the classrooms. The Nursery and Reception children have been happily making new friends, getting to know their teachers and familiarising themselves with new routines and expectations. In Year 1 and 2 the children have transitioned smoothly and confidently into their new classes and are already hard at work!
Today, Year 1 has had an energetic start to their topic, ‘Planes, trains and automobiles’. Riding a colourful array of bikes and scooters, some children zoomed energetically, whilst others tentatively negotiated the school grounds, but great fun was had by all. Year 2 has created masterpieces in the style of Mondrian and can name the seven continents. As the oldest children in Pre Prep, I know that they will act as the perfect role models to the younger children. My expectations are high!
I hope you found last night’s curriculum evening interesting and informative, whilst enjoying a glass of wine and meeting fellow parents. A busy and exciting term lays ahead for them all.
In assembly today, I introduced the children to the Pre Prep’s ‘Keys to Success’. Over the year the children will learn the importance of acquiring attributes in order to be successful in school, experience wellbeing, have positive relationships and contribute to the community. I am passionate about ensuring that each child has the opportunity to succeed and be the best they can be, whist embracing the values of kindness, good manners and respect for others.
I am delighted with how well your children have settled and they should be proud of all they have achieved in just a few days. It will be wonderful year.
I wish you a restful and enjoyable weekend.
