The Nursery children had quite a surprise at the beginning of the week when the ‘real’ Mother Goose waddled across the playground from the brook where she has been nesting, to thank the children for looking after her goslings so beautifully. She was simply thrilled to see that they had grown into well-groomed and perfectly mannered geese. The children serenaded Mother Goose and recited their favourite Nursery rhymes. Mother Goose couldn’t have been more thrilled!
On Tuesday morning, Nursery and Reception were treated to a live streamed performance of ‘Oldilocks and the Three Bears. It was wonderfully funny and warm hearted celebration of the classic story, starring a naughty old lady who looked very familiar and three fluffy bears who loved their breakfast! The children were enchanted by the funny characters, lovingly crafted puppets and musical interludes. A delicious Christmas lunch followed, complete with party hats and crackers – what a perfect day!
There was much anticipation on Wednesday as class by class, the children went to visit Santa. Their little faces were a picture as they entered Santa’s beautifully decorated, woodland grotto and found him fast asleep! Once woken from his slumber, he entertained the children with stories of his reindeer and listened carefully to the children’s vast and varied present requests!
Yesterday, Year 1 and 2 enjoyed a uniquely personalised panto. They were taken on a fairy tale journey full of wit and humour, lively characters, popular music and laugh-out-loud comedy. It brought an abundance of joy and a few surprises too!
As I reflect on the last term, despite the unusual circumstances in which we find ourselves, there have been so many highlights and exciting moments. The children bring much happiness to all – they have been kind and brave and shown incredible resilience and good humour. I feel very privileged to be working with such amazing children.
It only remains for me to wish you a peaceful Christmas and best wishes for a healthy and happy New Year.
