On Thursday, the newly appointed School Councillors in Years 1 and 2 visited the headquarters of our chosen charity, First Days. The children were shown how clothing and other donations to First Days are processed.
They helped collate a list of items for a new baby referral and were amazed to hear just how much a baby needs! After a quick biscuit break, they were back to work and sorted out some recently donated toys. They worked together ensuring that the toys were working properly and that all the pieces and parts were intact. The School Councillors will be sharing their experiences with their peers in Assembly in the next few weeks.
First Days is delighted with Lambrook’s partnership so far this year. As well as raising a massive £7,800 at our Christmas Fair, Lambrook families have been donating many vital items to families in Berkshire, including cots, buggies, stair-gates and much more. Our pupils thoughtfully put together 270 Christmas boxes which were given to a Young Parents’ Group in the Care System, to a Wokingham Mums’ Group, as well as some local families who had been referred. Even the Christmas jumper amnesty raised £400.
