Year 2 Iditarod Re-enactment
Year 2 has had great fun this week planning and constructing their sled teams to re-enact the Iditarod race which involves dog sled teams and mushers racing from Anchorage in south central Alaska, to Nome on the western Bering Sea coast. The teams carried supplies and had to sort out the mushers and huskies before navigating their sled across an ‘Alaskan’ sports court around icebergs!
The Iditarod is a National Historic Trail and a tribute to Alaska’s history and the role the dog sled played in it. Pre Prep has been learning all about the Indigenous Peoples of North America, the race and their culture as part of their ‘Frozen World’ topic.
Pre Prep House Easter Bonnet Competition
The Pre Prep House Easter Bonnet competition was a huge success. The four beautiful bonnets were made entirely out of recyclable materials and the result of outstanding team work. All four hats were unique, creative and visual impressive. Alexander are to be congratulated as the winners.
