At Lambrook we are immensely proud of our sporting heritage. Our facilities are second-to-none and include all-weather surface cricket, football, netball and hockey pitches, a well-equipped sports hall, indoor swimming pool, squash and tennis courts, a nine-hole golf course and cricket squares of unsurpassed quality.

Against the backdrop of our breathtaking grounds, children learn team spirit, as well as how to win and lose with grace. Our experienced coaches understand how to nurture talent and they ensure that all children have the opportunity to play a diverse range of sports whether at a competitive or non-competitive level.

Prep

An afternoon sports programme offers a wide variety of sports on a cyclical basis throughout the year. The following sports are played in the Prep School.

Michaelmas Term: Boys - Football & Rugby
Lent Term: Boys - Rugby & Hockey
Summer Term: Boys - Cricket & Athletics
Michaelmas Term: Girls - Hockey & Netball
Lent Term: Girls - Netball & Lacrosse
Summer Term: Girls - Cricket, Tennis & Athletics

Pupils also have the opportunity to experience other sports such as golf, karate, trampolining, orienteering, badminton, squash, tennis, swimming, basketball and skiing.

Games are timetabled on a daily basis for juniors and seniors. The Schools inter-house sporting competitions, School Cross-Country, Sports Day and Swimming Galas complete the multi-faceted sports programme at the school.

Children are encouraged to represent their school in as many of these activities as they can. All pupils will have the opportunity to be selected by their coaches and all fixtures will be represented by those children viewed by the coaches to be the best choices. The School will always strive to be as competitive as it can be. To win at all costs is not an option and is actively discouraged; yes, the will to win in a competitive situation is part of the game. Children will learn to win well and to lose well; they will be happy, yet humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

Lambrook plays competitive sport and takes pride in its performance at all levels, local, national and international. The School is justifiably proud of its reputation on the sporting circuit, not just in results attained, but in how the game is played by its ambassadors, the children of the School. Lambrook also enjoys the best match teas on the circuit!

Nursery and Pre Prep

Children within the Nursery and the Pre Prep benefit from a specialist teacher in this field who takes each class for one session of PE per week. They also have a swimming lesson once a week throughout the year in our heated indoor pool.

Children in Year 2 also benefit from an extra session of games- football, tag rugby and cricket for the boys and netball, hockey and rounders for the girls. There are opportunities for the children to represent their school through various games matches and galas with other local Pre Prep schools.

Reception and Nursery children also benefit in an additional music and movement class.
